TASK 2: DECISIVE MOMENT

LECTURES

Week 7:
Mr Hafiz gave us some briefing regarding the assignment. We were instructed to create a animated album cover of the artist, Frank Sinatra. We need to choose one song his song. By appreciating the artistry and lyrics, we required to sketch initial ideas , figure out storyline, illustrate and compose and animate a ‘moment’ base of the understanding from the chosen song. 
Illustrated typography must be included. Foreground, midground and background must be considered and illustrated. Artsyle such as Minimalist, Retro, Pop Art and Art Nouveau are recommended. 
Project Brief
You are to choose one song from the list below, appreciate the song, hear it through and understand the lyrics. You are then required to sketch initial ideas , figure out  storyline, illustrate and compose and animate a ‘moment’ base of your understanding from the chosen song. This moment will be the album cover. Illustrated typography must be included. Foreground mid ground and background must be considered and illustrated.

After listening to all the songs, I think Fly me to the moon is more attractive to me. Before that, I rarely listened to this kind of retro jazz music, but after listening to it, I deeply caught my attention. I think there is a lyric that moves me very much, and I also want to work on this lyric. The lyric is In other words, hold my hand.

Hearing this lyric, I can think of the end of the world at the end of the universe, two people in love in space, even before dying can also hold each other's hands, fate let two people meet, even if the end can not separate them.

Fly Me To The Moon:

-Genre: Jazz

-Saxophone, trumpet, trombone and piano

-Love the lysics, " In other words, hold my hand"

-Elements: Moon, music instrument,  Mars (Space),  clouds,two people in love, oxygen mask,universe,planet and explode.

story 1:

Imagine two astronauts sitting side by side on the moon with this song playing in their helmets, with the stars above them, rocking together and looking at the blue home star in the distance, while the outside of the helmets is completely silent.

story 2:

Two astronauts in the moon mission lost contact with the earth, in desperation, turned on the music heard the song fly me to the moon, two people ready to face death together, did not expect to find a large robot, can lead them back to Earth.

Finally, I chose Story 2, because the first time I listened to this song, I thought it was a love song, about a couple of lovers, the man wanted to fly to the moon with the girl. After listening to it many times, I found that it was more than just two people falling in love. I thought this song could bring hope to people, so I chose Story 2.

Mr.Hafiz asked me to add the text and adjust the size of the earth, and I shaped the text into the shape of a shooting star.

In this week's class, the teacher asked everyone to follow his steps and make a combination of fish and fish using some common tools. I also followed the teacher's steps, but I made some adaptations.

The first version was a meteor constantly moving across, but I felt that the meteor alone was too simple, and I thought that I could make the robot move, or the astronaut run, so that it would not be monotonous. Finally, I chose to let the robot move, so that the robot is the main object, and it is more conspicuous and interesting.

Story line: Two astronauts arrive on a mission to the moon, encounter aliens on the way, they abandon ship to flee, in a time of life and death. When they found a robot left by a predecessor, there was still enough power for them to return to Earth. One astronaut held the hand of another astronaut and played fly me to the moon. The robot also waved its hand when it heard the song.

FEEDBACK

week 8

General feedback:The homework assigned this week is very challenging, which is also the type I like. Mr.Hafiz requires us to use the AI software to complete it. I am not familiar with this software, but I will try my best to complete it.

Specific feedback:It took me three hours to finish the sketch after class, and I also came up with a complete story line. I think the song fly me to the moon brings infinite hope to people, and I think it is not worth the simple love between men and women, so I used the style of Art Nouveau to finish the last homework.

week 9

General feedback:After I showed my work to Mr.Hafiz in class this week, Mr.Hafiz gave me a lot of encouragement. This is an interesting and good work. I hope I can add the text and adjust the earth behind it.

Specific feedback:After class, I improved the questions raised by the teacher one by one, integrated the font and the shooting star behind it, made the letters look like shooting stars, and conceived how to do the animation after that. I was going to make the meteor into a dynamic shape, but I thought it was a little common, and I thought of a second way, which is to make the subject matter robot move.

week 10

General feedback:Making animations was a big challenge for me, I had only done simple font animations before, this time I wanted to do the album cover animation well, I came up with several different versions.

week 11

General feedback:This week I improved the animation of my album and refined the story line, adding a few frames to some of the images that were not smooth.

Specific feedback:Most of the time, we are always thinking about whether the picture is beautiful or complete, but I think the animation must be smooth to reflect its charm. I made more than ten frames of the animation in just a few seconds. This week, the teacher gave us one-on-one feedback on the course, thank you very much Mr.Hafiz

REFLECTION

Experience:In the whole production process, from the sketch to the final draft, to the production of posters, and then to the production of animation, I encountered many problems, such as the use of ai is not skilled, such as the animation is not coherent, but I have solved them one by one.

Observations:In this assignment, I observed that many functions were my first contact, and each time was a new attempt. In order to make the final result excellent, every step could not be wrong. I imported the sketch into ai production and spent nearly eight hours to make the cover.

Findings:I think this assignment is the most interesting in the whole semester. We are allowed to choose the songs we like, play freely and create freely. We can choose the songs we like and the art style we like. Made a favorite robot, I like this teaching method, like this kind of innovative homework.
