1. TASK 2 BRIEF

This is the Module Information Booklet for this module:

Lecture Notes:

Contrast: Direct visual attention through contrast in color, shape, size, etc. Contrast in the design helps the elements stand out and make the visuals richer.

Balance: The design needs to balance the visual center of gravity. Balance can be achieved by means of symmetry, asymmetry, or placement of elements.

Hierarchy: A visual hierarchy is formed to guide users' attention by means of size, color, and position.
For example, use a larger font for the most important information and a smaller font for information that is getting less important.

Consistency: Maintain consistency between different interfaces or platforms to create a familiar experience for users.

I'm going to do visual analysis in three steps:

1. Observation
Identifying the visual elements and describe these elements.
Do not read beforehand about the design in this phase.

2. Analysis
Think about the observations.
Identify and analyse the visual elemnets that create the design principles that complete the artwork

3.Interpretation
Think about the meaning / aim / purpose of this artwork by referring to facts, artists, inspirations and historical contexts.

2. VISUAL ANALYSIS
Fig. 1.1
Artist: Dawn on previous
Published: December 21th 2022
Medium: Digital
Tools: Photoshop

Phase 1: Observation
The image conveys a powerful, urgent message: "THERE WILL BE NO FUTURE" followed by "LET US SAVE IT!" The bold text emphasizes immediate action. The contrast between the top and bottom halves highlights the impact of chemical pollution, leading to the homelessness of marine life. This serves as a call for global environmental awareness, urging viewers to reflect on their role in creating a sustainable future.

Phase 2: Analysis
The background is divided into a dark center and lighter sides, creating contrast that symbolizes environmental pollution. This minimalist design highlights the message, urging people to recognize the importance of protecting the environment and take action together
Work analysis
Phase 3: Interpretation
1 Background: Calm or choppy ocean scene in blue/green tones, or a polluted ocean.

2 Text: “THERE WILL BE NO FUTURE” and “LET US SAVE IT!” in contrasting colors like white or yellow for visibility.

3 Visuals: Marine life (fish, turtles, corals) or pollution (plastic, oil) to emphasize ocean threats.

4 Emotion: A beautiful scene evokes love for the ocean, while a polluted one sparks urgency to act.

This design encourages action for marine protection through impactful visuals and messages.

3. Reference List & Bibliography

Fig. 1.2

Fig. 1.3
Both of these pictures combine objects and bodies. The first picture exposes half of the skeleton to the outside, and a sea lion is tied to a rope, which gives the whole picture a depressing feeling. The second picture combines whales with garbage, giving people the same depressing feeling, which makes people immediately start to protect the environment and call for people to love Marine life. Stop throwing rubbish.

I will use these two techniques in my subsequent works. I think these two techniques are very special. I can learn from the author and combine the two techniques of expression.

FEEDBACK

week3
In the beginning, we put together all the artistic expression techniques in the market, and then combined the works that we like, which I think is an interesting thing.

week4
I chose the works of a Chinese artist, whose works are very expressive, from which I can see two worlds, one is the beautiful ocean world, and the other is human civilization, which is a great contrast. I will learn from him in my future works.

Reflection:
Dr. Charles told me that my ideas and content are very interesting, but the content of the blog can be more concise, too much content makes my picture not clean enough, and then I need to improve my blog, and control the number of words less, rich content and more concise.
