Task 3: DESIGN
1. This is the Module Information Booklet for this module:
2. Overview of Task 3
In this task, you need to make a design work that is inspired/influenced by the work I analyzed in Task 2. Therefore, I need to make a work about environmental protection, Marine pollution and cherish the present.
Under the influence of artists, I think I can give full play to the two artistic styles of structure and contrast, which I think are two very interesting creative techniques.
3. Idea Evolution
Fig1.1 Reference
Fig1.2 Reference
Fig1.3 Reference
I decided to use some deconstructive artistic techniques to split the creatures in the picture into half bones and half flesh, or half bones and half garbage. In this way, the visual impact is stronger and can be more attractive.
Fig1.4 Reference
Background I will use strong contrast techniques to enrich the whole picture, my idea is the whole ocean, half of the ocean is polluted, half is not polluted. Polluted oceans include shipwrecks, dying seafloor creatures that expose their bones, and nuclear sewage.
The other half of the ocean is peaceful, there are turtles, jellyfish, whales and seaweed, and the sun shines on the sea. A little girl is at the bottom of the sea, but she yearns for the clear sea, I think this is a very interesting picture.

Title: The ocean is boundless, the responsibility boundless
Centering on the little girl, the two extremes of the underwater world show the importance of the ocean and human beings.
One half of the poster shows a peaceful ocean scene, and the other half shows a polluted ocean. The little girl is at the bottom of the ocean, hoping to see the ocean as it was.
This week, I colored last week's sketch. I think only by coloring can the audience understand the content and meaning of what I want to express.
I also listened to Mr.Charles's advice and made minor adjustments and modifications.
In the seahorse in the picture, I have used the artistic technique of deconstruction to disassemble and reassemble a complete object, because Mr.Charles told me last class that this artistic technique is very interesting. I disassemble and reassemble the seahorse, and the whole seahorse is composed of some household garbage.

Final design
The ocean is boundless, the responsibility boundless
The picture shows two sides of the ocean - a vibrant ocean world on one side and a dark abyss engulfed by pollution on the other. The top half of the picture is full of bright colors, all kinds of Marine creatures swim freely in the clear water, coral, whales, squid, turtles and other creatures together constitute a beautiful ecological picture. Among them, the back of the turtle is covered with flowers, symbolizing the vitality and harmony of nature.
The second half of the picture is in sharp contrast, the sea becomes dark and dirty, the abandoned nuclear waste barrels pour pollution into the ocean, and the ship wreckage is carved with skull symbols, symbolizing the destruction of the Marine ecology by human activities. The diver (or astronaut) is at this juncture, her body is being eroded by pollution, half of it still in its colorful form, the other half is gradually fading into the darkness, becoming a rotting wreck, symbolizing the crisis of coexistence between man and the sea.
The overall picture style combines science fiction and environmental protection themes, expressing deep concern about Marine pollution and warning people to cherish and protect this blue world. In line with my title The ocean is boundless, the responsibility boundless
FEEDBACK
WEEK5
This week, I showed my sketch to Mr.Charles, who thought it was an interesting work. He also saw the contrast between the two worlds and the deconstructive artistic technique I used. However, I did not write the introduction and the title of the work.
WEEK6
The following is the feedback Mr.Charles gave me in class. He gave me very detailed feedback. He is a good teacher with details and patience.
good play on the composition and good use of the elements! However, the conceptual understanding of this composition needs further elaboration. the divide between the two worlds. for example the world above seems beautiful and ideal which appears like a dream. but the girl is ion the world below - is it reality? so is the dream more dominant than the reality. the play of dominance and figure ground can be better understood in this composition.
WEEK7
In class this week, Mr.Charles told me that there was nothing wrong with the picture and it was well matched. However, he hoped that I would make my final work the largest in my blog, because I could see it clearly without clicking on the big picture. Then he hoped that I would write an article to describe and introduce my final work.
I've already written it and added it to my blog.
