WEEK13
This week is the thirteenth week. I have completed the development of my app and have also listened to the teacher's revision suggestions. I have divided the entire app into five sections: home, ticket, store, map, and me, which are the most important. I have particularly focused on the development of the map and the ticket sections. During my first communication with Mr. Sylvain, he informed me that the ticket section of the store could be moved to the status bar at the bottom.
WEEK14
The semester is coming to an end and I will soon submit my app assignment. Throughout the entire learning process, I am most grateful to M.
With Sylvain's help, he was extremely patient and meticulous. He was the most conscientious and responsible teacher I had ever met. I enjoyed his classes and liked communicating with him. Studying was made easy and enjoyable for me. Learning is a long process. The learning of Figma was particularly difficult, but with his help, I mastered it very well and learned quickly. He gave me a lot of encouragement.
When I made something that he hadn't taught, he would encourage me and praise me. This further motivated me to do my homework better. In the last class, Mr. Sylvain gave my homework a very high evaluation. Thank you very much. This made me even more eager for the Application 2 course in the next semester.
REFLECTION
Throughout the design process of the Universal Studios application, I gained a comprehensive understanding of user-centered digital product development. Under the guidance of Mr. Sylvain, I was encouraged to think critically not only about aesthetics but also about usability, functionality, and inclusivity — all of which played a significant role in shaping the final outcome.
At the beginning of the project, I had an ambitious vision that included many features such as an interactive map, live queue updates, fast-pass booking, show schedules, and character meet-and-greets. However, through feedback and multiple iterations, I learned that overloading the app with features could actually reduce its clarity and ease of use. With this realization, I streamlined the interface and prioritized user journeys that reflected real-world park behavior — such as quick access to nearby attractions, showtimes, and ticket management.
Mr. Sylvain’s feedback pushed me to consider how layout and design decisions impact overall user flow. For example, while my initial layout was visually appealing, it had too many layers and deep navigation paths. Based on his suggestions, I simplified the information hierarchy, reduced the number of steps needed to complete tasks, and improved button accessibility on key pages like the homepage and map interface.
This project helped me move beyond simply “designing what looks good” to designing what works well for a wide range of users. The experience taught me to see application design as a blend of empathy, logic, and storytelling. I’m thankful for Mr. Sylvain’s constructive input throughout this project, as it greatly influenced the clarity and professionalism of my final design.
Moving forward, I will carry these lessons into future projects — especially the importance of balancing creativity with practicality and always designing with the user’s context in mind.
