Timeframe: WEEK 2 - WEEK 3
Exercise 1: Quantifiable Information (10%)
– Quantify raw data and visualize information as a photograph
A is a visual representation of numerical data that allows for easy interpretation and analysis.
Instruction:
Gather a set of objects and separate it into category such as color, shape, pattern, and other quantifiable factor.
Example:
1. Box of Lego
2. Jar of button
3. Jar of marble ball
4. Set of colourful rubber strap
In this exercise you're required to quantify our chosen objects and arrange them into a presentable layout or chart.
The information must be presented as is, and you need to arrange the objects with relevant indicators written out with pens to help you to visualize the quantity and data. The examples of objects that can be use are buttons, coins, lego pieces, M&Ms, and more.
Submission:
E-Portfolio report consists of
1. Photo of the random objects before sorting out
2. Objects sorted out by categories (2 - 5 category)
3. Write and design the information on a piece of papers (A3 drawing paper)
Mr. Fauzi explained to us eight types of information charts, including:
1 List information chart
2 Statistical information chart
3 Procedure information chart
4 Timeline information chart
5 Comparison information chart
6 Map and location information chart
7 Flowchart information chart
8 escription information chart
INSTRUCTIONS
WEEK1:
In this week's class, we did Exercise 1. We were asked to bring A3-sized paper, colored pens, and an item that could be classified from different angles.
And we were divided into groups, with each group consisting of at least two and a maximum of three people.
Unsorted data:
Fig.1.1
Fig.1.2
I prepared many colorful round-point needles to complete this assignment. The main task of this assignment is to learn how to organize items by classification, identify the patterns within them, and then create one's own artistic work.
Step 1- Sorted:
Fig.1.3
I sorted them by color, placing each color in a separate area. This made it very convenient for me to quickly find them when needed.
Fig.1.4
I marked the colors beside them, which made it easier for me to find and use them.
Step 3- Visual Structuring
Fig.1.5
The work is based on a green background.
The central part is composed of green beads, forming a compact corolla structure.
Four "petals" extend outwards from the center, each represented by beads of different colors. Each petal is composed of a ring of beads connected by threads. It possesses a simple yet symmetrical beauty, with vivid colors.
In order to better secure the nails, I actually fixed the paper onto my mouse pad and then proceeded with the making. It took me a very long time to complete it because I rarely do handicrafts and I lost my mouse pad.
Exercise 2/ L.A.T.C.H INFOGRAPHIC POSTER
INSTRUCTION:
1. Organize a group of information into a visual poster that combines and utilizes the LATCH principles (Minimum 4).
2. You are required to use the digital photo editing/illustration software available to assemble the information into a LATCH infographic poster.
3. You are allowed to reuse back the images but you have to create the rest of visuals to complete the poster.
Now I have three ideas.
Ideas 1:The legendary character of the Apex game
Ideas 2:Chinese-style architecture
Ideas 3:Movie character
In the second week, we were introduced to our second exercise, which is the L.A.T.C.H exercise. This exercise involved organizing a set of information into a visual poster, incorporating and applying the principles of L.A.T.C.H (location, alphabet, time, categories, hierarchy).
I still prefer to choose Apex Legends.Because this is the game I am most familiar with, and I can follow the timing of the characters' appearances.
REQUIREMENTS:
1. Size resolution: 1240 × 1750 pixels or 2048 × 2048 pixels.
2. Progress and submission link on E-Portfolio.
SUBMISSION:
1. Final poster attached to this submission.
2. E-Portfolio link attached to this submission.

Fig.1.6
I'm going to create a character poster for the game Apex, which is my most familiar one.Because I am most familiar with them and it is the most convenient to organize the information, I decided to conduct some research and present my findings in the form of an infographic on my poster.

Fig.1.10 Final L.A.T.C.H Infographic Poster
This week, Mr. Fauzi finished viewing my poster. He immediately remarked that this poster was very cool and that very few people had created posters with the "apex" theme. However, I should appropriately add some introductions, and I hope I can make it more organized. This way, it will be clearer and more convenient to read.Fig.1.11 Final L.A.T.C.H Infographic Poster (Modified version)

Later on, I think it would look better if the color of the logo were unified.
FEEDBACK
Week 1:There are no classes this week.
Week 2:This week in class, we were asked to bring Lego bricks, a jar of buttons, a jar of marbles or a set of colorful rubber bands. We needed to sort them and create our own artworks. It was really fun.
Week 3:In class, Mr. Fauzi taught us how to organize information and create posters. We also determined the content for our group assignment. We are planning to make a short animation about the history of Lego.
Week 4:In this week's class, I shared my ideas with Mr. Fauzi. He thought it would be very interesting because very few people have made posters on the topic of apex. And our animation plan was also positively received by Mr. Fauzi. This is a very interesting animation. He hopes we will continue to produce it and is very excited about it.
Week 5:There are no classes this week.
REFLECTION
During this information design learning process, I deeply realized that the way information is presented has a significant impact on the audience's understanding and acceptance. Initially, I placed too much emphasis on the completeness of the content, neglecting the hierarchical structure and visual guidance of the information, which resulted in the content being detailed but the reading experience being rather chaotic. Through continuous adjustments, I gradually realized that information design is not merely "displaying the content", but rather helping users "quickly grasp the key points".
During the process of optimizing the design, I learned to utilize visual elements such as graphics, colors, and layout to enhance the clarity and readability of the information. For instance, combining icons with titles can quickly convey the content theme, and proper white space and column division effectively alleviate the reading burden. Moreover, establishing a logical hierarchy of information helps readers form a clear cognitive path.
